The plug-in electric vehicle market in Germany went back to red in October, with registrations down 3% Year-on-Year, having registered 2.600 units last month. Despite this small sales slump, the Year-to-date registrations are up 11%.

The Kia Soul EV was the leader in October, with 372 units, followed by the all-electric BMW i3 (274 registrations) and the Audi A3 e-tron (266 units), with this last one pulling its best performance in over a year.

An interesting stat is that the BMW i3 EV more than doubled sales of its Range Extended version (274 vs 173 units), which might indicate that buyers feel more confident in going BEV with the increased range of the 33 kWh version.

In the Year-to-date ranking, the Renault Zoe (2.262 units) is ahead, followed by the Audi A3 e-tron, with 1.272 registrations, and the Tesla Model S (1.230 units), while the Kia Soul EV, last year’s best seller, is fourth with 1.229 units, and will be a strong candidate to finish the year in second place.
